You may have heard recent media reports that the Premier is under pressure from Fred Nile and the Christian Democratic Party to drop the introduction of same sex adoption in NSW. The Premier has since denied the existence of such a deal, stating that he is awaiting the outcome of the Committee's report on the inquiry held earlier in the year.

Write an email to the Premier now expressing your support for same sex adoption rights in NSW - you can use the text below as a guide.

"I would like to express my support for full parenting and adoption rights for same sex couples in NSW. Currently co-parent status is only recognised where children are born into a lesbian relationship, putting many other same sex families at risk of discrimination. Like opposite sex couples, same sex couples have the capacity to offer a child a loving and safe home. I believe that the law should reflect his equality.

I am thankful that the Government has denied rumours of a deal with the Christian Democratic Party to drop the introduction of same sex adoption in NSW, reported in the Sydney Morning Herald on May 26, 2009. Please show your support for the LGBT community by ensuring that legislation to recognise all same sex families and their adoptions is brought before both houses of parliament this year and supported by the Government."
